Andrea

Andrea Fultz is a professional vocalist and composer performing regularly in the US and all over Germany. She is also the founder of “The Voice Studio Frankfurt am Main” teaching voice technique, performance, music theory and Emotional Freedom Techniques™ (www.emofree.com). From 2004 – 2008 she was a certified Speech Level Singing instructor (www.speechlevelsinging.com).

Andrea grew up in two cultures, with a German mother and an American father and spent most of her life in Germany and Austria while visiting the USA as often as possible. Since 1996 she has been performing professionally at numerous jazz festivals and jazz clubs, including the prestigious "Die Unterfahrt" in Munich and “The Legion of Honor” in San Francisco. For 4 years she was a member of a professional a capella quartet based in Munich (The Funny Valentines), which regularly performed a variety of arrangements displaying a wide range of stylistic influences.

In 2001 - while already gigging several times a week - she was completing a Masters degree in Speech Sciences, Special Education (Speech Therapy) and Psycholinguistics from the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich, writing her Master's thesis on the intrinsic similarities between speaking and singing. After her graduation she moved to Graz, Austria to study voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts. While studying jazz in the Austrian Alps she made the decision to move to the country where jazz was born.

In 2003 she arrived in San Francisco and stayed there for 5 years, making a living as a singer and voice instructor. In the US she performed with outstanding musicians such as Dori Caymmi, Art Lande, Marcus Shelby, Pyeng Threadgil, David Rokeche and studied with Kurt Elling, Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy, Rebecca Parris, Madeline Eastman, Dean Kaelin, Seth Riggs (www.sethriggs.com) and many others.

Andrea currently travels between Germany and the US, with Frankfurt being her main place of residence.

Her repertoire contains a mix of jazz/pop and old German cabaret songs (“The German Projekt”). Due to the overwhelming success in the spring of 2008 Andrea will be going on US tour the summer and late fall of 2008 with “The German Projekt”. A CD will be out in December.

In addition, she has developed her own material in the nu-jazz/electronica style with her band eQuarius. For more info about Andrea’s music see Music page!

Her philosophy regarding singing: "Singing is a way of communicating who you are."
